Peter Piper packed a pint of pickled peppers, peppered pickles and a pound of pimento to place on a burger, and the Pickled Pimento Burger was born.
Far Out Burger will be introducing the Pickled Pimento this Saturday at the Cold Springs Farm CSA pick-up (sorry, Peter Piper will not be making an appearance). The Pickled Pimento is a Far Out Patty topped with melty Far Out red bell pepper pimento cheese, griddled bacon, spicy Far Out pickled jalapeños, crunchy Far Out bread & butter jalapeño pickles, all squeezed between a slightly sweet Far Out Bun. Come try one between 11am and 1pm this Saturday at 3309 W. 4th St. in Fort Worth. We promise you won’t regret it!!
Burger and Beer will collide this Saturday from 2-5 at Martin House’s brewery tour. Far Out Burger will be serving MH Beerger which features beer caramelized onions and candied beer bacon utilizing Martin House’s seductive Pretzel Stout. Throw in a juicy Far Out patty topped with American cheese and grilled jalapenos stacked inside a fresh baked Far Out bun adorned with our Far Out aioli and you have got one beer-licious burger. Far Out Burger will be returning Saturday with a brand new specialty burger to enjoy at the Cold Springs Farm CSA drop-off in Fort Worth (3309 W. 4th st. Fort Worth) from 11-1. The specialty burger this week will feature a Far Out patty topped with Swiss cheese, applewood smoked bacon, asparagus, balsamic romaine and a Far Out fresno pepper aioli, all contained within a Far Out bun. We will also be serving the Groovy Burger, a Far Out take on a traditional burger. As always, 10% of our proceeds go to help those at REAL School Gardens and Tarrant Area Food Bank. Saturday, March 29th, 2014 will go down in Far Out history as a truly epic day. Far Out Burger was one of 13 local burger gurus participating in the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival‘s ‘Burgers, Brews & Blues’ event — our first big event and opportunity to share our burger love with the world (of Fort Worth, TX). It was an amazing evening – the weather was PERFECT, the beer was flowing, the blues were rocking, and primo burgers were being served…including our flavor-crammed ‘Pump Up the JAM’ burger, featuring a savory Far Out patty topped with white American cheese and applewood smoked bacon, plus our Far Out roasted pepper spread, fresh watercress, and Far Out mango jam all surrounded by a delectable Far Out Bun.
But what really made this burger stand out in the culinary crowd that evening was the quality local ingredients that went into it. We peeled 70 South Texas mangos and zested South Texas Cara Cara oranges for the jam. We hand-formed and baked 350 buns. We ground 80 lbs of Central Market ground chuck and short rib and hand-formed 350 patties for the burger. We roasted over 70 South Texas poblano, anaheim and red bell peppers, handpicked 4 lbs of cilantro from Cold Springs Farm, cut smooth, creamy South Texas avocados and squeezed a lot of limes for the spread.
The response we got from the festival goers was humbling, with consistently long lines it seemed Fort Worthians were buying into our groovy vision! And it all paid off in the end as we were voted 2nd place/runner-up for the People’s Choice Award for Best Burger, losing only to Rodeo Goat and their DFW.com Burger Battle champion burgers. We had a great time and look forward to bringing another Far Out Burger creation to next year’s event!
